Cian learning the kid version of the Heimlich! (Did I spell that right? lol)

Our PTA has a Hero of the Month. A "Hero" comes to school each month and teaches us about what they do. This month our hero was a nurse that teaches kids about how to help if someone is choking or unconscious. The nurse started off saying that the best thing to do if there is a problem is to get help from another grown up, but she was going to teach them somethings to do if there was no one else there to help. I was a little concerned that 1) The material was way over their heads or 2) that they could actually hurt someone but, I was really surprised at how things went. The kids were taught some really basic things to do and the main focus was to call for help by the usual means. Cian learned a lot and I was reminded of the steps too, which is always good!

Spring is Here!

Yesterday was the first day of spring and I am so happy! To make matters better we have had a very sunny week and it looks to be a sunny week ahead! Around our house this means the work has begun. We bought our house a couple of years ago and it is so cute, but needs a lot of work. We have done a lot of inside stuff, but continue to have outside stuff to do. We were on a roll last fall with transforming an old covered patio into an open patio. Kevin and Kyle tore it down so it lined up with the rest of the house. Leaving us with a couple of feet of "porch" off of our bedroom and opening up a pretty rock area for our picnic table. We were set to finish up the work, when Kev had his accident. Since then it has been an eyesore. It is the first thing on our list to do this spring. We also have to shore up our picket fence in a couple of areas and clean up the yard from the branches and twigs that winter's wind has brought down. All of our walkways are rock and they need to be fixed in certain spots. Kevin says that we will be doing a lot of masonry. I guess I had better learn how. Kevin is definitely a do it himself kind of guy. If he doesn't know how to do something he learns how. As for the inside of the house our upstairs bathroom needs an update and I would like to have at least a new back splash in the kitchen. Our original idea was to redo the kitchen entirely, but it does not seem like we would get the money back if we ever sold the house. Needless to say, our busy season has started again. On your mark, get set, go!

My Birthday!

I turned 32 on Friday. 32 was not as hard as 31 or 30. I guess I am getting used to the 30 thing. We had a great day. Cian woke me up in the morning. He came to the side of the bed and the first thing he said was "Wake up snugglebug". He says this every morning. Then he says, "Happy Birthday mom!". I was shocked that he had remembered with out any help. It was so sweet. Kevin had already left for work so we got ready and went to school ourselves. Kevin picked Cian up from school at lunch time so that they could do some present hunting and boy stuff at home. After work I went and got my haircut as seen above. Then we went out to eat at Outback with Nicole(Kyle was out of town for work). It was a great day. Everything went so nice and I was able to pamper myself with a hair cut and then spend sometime with my boys too. No, 32 is not so bad when you are able to spend your days with people whom you can't imagine spending your days without!

Cian's 5th Birthday!

Cian's friend party. We invited about eight boys for Cian's Ben 10 Party. (Ben 10 is a cartoon).
Ben 10 cake. Cian stood by me as I was decorating this. he wanted to make sure I was doing it right. He was too funny.
Family Birthday Party. Cian's third cake. He had one on his actual birthday too. Needless to say we are all caked out.
Cian opening his present from his cousins in OR. He said, "I've always wanted this". So good job Rebecca! You must have a lot of experience with five year olds. :)
Cian and Lily making a worms in dirt project. Cain loved doing this and eating it afterward. I though this was a great idea. Lindsey gave Cian all the ingredients for this project for his birthday gift. It was so much fun!
Cian giving cousin Lily a great big hug!
Cian and Aunt Nicole. Kyle and Nicole gave Cian a Ben 10 sticker book and cookie cutters. It was so cute. He loved the sticker book, but got so excited over the cookie cutters. We had to make cookies the next day because Cian couldn't wait to use them!

Cian's third cake. He helped me make this one too. Maybe we have a baker on our hands. However, he is sure that he is going to be an astronaut when he grows up now. He wants to take his Dad to space with him. I love hearing his plans for the future! We are so happy that our little boy is growing up into such a nice big boy. We have watched a lot of home videos and can't believe how much he has grown and changed. We are so proud of him and the person that he is. Happy Birthday Cianie!
